Erdoðan and Kýlýçdaroðlu speeches

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan has chosen a "Mussolini style" speech, addressing the crowd from the balcony of his party's headquarters in Ankara.

"We will embrace everyone, whether they voted for the AKP or not," Erdoðan said. "The people have won," Erdoðan said, adding that unlawfulness and the rule of the "privileged ones" lost once more. "A Turkey with gangs has become a thing of the past with the decision of the Turkish people", Erdoðan said. "The lifestyles, faiths and values of 74 million people are entrusted to us."

Freedoms will broaden, the prime minister said, adding that everyone will be able to express themselves even better. "Our responsibility has grown," he said.

Erdoðan put special emphasis on Turkey's regional role, saluting people from several countries including Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia and Egypt.

He said: "We have also been given the authority to make the new Constitution. We have been given the chance to make the new constitution with consensus. We deem our promises on the rallies hope-inspiring. We will not close our doors just because we have 330 deputies. I say that if the main opposition and other opposition parties approve, we will sit and talk, and we will have dialogue with the political parties outside the Parliament, nongovernmental organizations and associations. We will make a liberal constitution altogether. The east, the west, the north and the south will find themselves in this constitution. This new constitution will be addressed to every single individual in Turkey. In the new constitution, every citizen will be “the first.” This constitution will focus on peace. This constitution will be the constitution of the Kurd, of Turkmen people, of Alevis, of all minorities, which means all 74 million people. This constitution will be for fraternity, for sharing, for unity and solidarity".

Despite the good performance the AKP failed to win the two third majority that would have given it the power to change the Constitution without the need of a referendum. Frantic talks are likely to begin soon with the AKP looking for the deputies it will need to reach the majority.

CHP SPEECH

CHP (Republican People's Party) leader Kemal Kýlýçdaroðlu made a speech late Sunday, saying the CHP has came out stronger from the election.

Kýlýçdaroðlu had three messages for his supporters.

He said the CHP gained 3.5 million new voters in six months and became stronger, receiving the most percentage of votes since the Sept. 12, 1980 coup.

Kýlýçdaroðlu congratulated the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP. "They should bear in mind that they face a stronger CHP now," he said. The CHP would work on matters of a new constitution, equal rights for women and equality in media.

"We have added 3.5 million voters to our ranks in six months," Kýlýçdaroðlu said. "We have four years ahead of us. We will become the ruling party. We will not give up this aim."
