Turkish Vice Prime Minister Yalçın Akdoğan stated that they would focus on security policies as Dolmabahçe Agreement was not on their agenda and did not come up during their most recent meeting with HDP. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also targeted HDP.
In his statement on the AKP-HDP coalition meeting, Vice Prime Minister Akdoğan stated that the new government would determine how the process would proceed, and declared that they would focus on security policies as opposed to democratic steps. Akdoğan claimed that the people in the Kurdish region demanded security, and being a state required the intensification of the struggle against forces that threaten civilians’ security and peace and limit their rights and freedoms.
ERDOĞAN DENIED NEGOTIATIONS AND TARGETED HDP
Speaking to reporters following the Eid prayer this morning, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continued his denialist approach and said that he would never accept the expression of ‘Dolmabahçe Agreement.’ Erdoğan stated that agreements could not be made between a government on one side and a political party on the other. He said that an agreement could never be made with those who depend on the separatist organization, and continued to target HDP by claiming that it had ties to the PKK.
