Erdogan goes nationalist at budget meeting

The Turkish Parliament approved the 2011 budget today following 13 dull days of discussion. The 2011 budget stands at 312.5 billion Turkish Liras. If discussion om budget was actually dull, what heated up the debate was Prime Minister Erdogan's speech. In a strong show of nationalism, Erdogan stated that "although I defend the Kurdish issue, I am strongly opposed to the "Kurdisization" of the discourse. There is one and only one language in this country, and this is Turkish. There is one and only one nationality - said the Prime Minister - and this is the Turkish nationality. There is one and only one flag and this is the Turkish flag".
