Groups from Denmark, Italy and Sweden visiting the region for Newroz celebrations have held meetings with the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), Democratic Society Congress (DTK) and several non-governmental organizations.
A group from Denmark consisting of Parliament members and journalists were welcomed by the DTK co-chairs Ahmet Türk and Aysel Tuðluk in Diyarbakýr. The pressures on Roj TV and the Kurdish National Conference were discussed in a meeting where Aysel Tuðluk criticized the repression suffered by press institutions, Roj Tv in particular, in Europe.
An Italian group gathered information in a meeting with the BDP in Dersim about the importance of Newroz, KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) operations and the public reaction to PM Erdoðan’s ‘apology’ for the Dersim massacre.
A Swedish group of 13 people is in Nusaybin (Mardin) to attend today's Newroz events. They met with the BDP representatives, including BDP Batman MP Ayla Akat Ata.
