Families in Esenyurt: We will be here every day

Following the police ban of their sit-in in Esenyurt, families of prisoners on hunger strike said they will be coming to the square every day.

Families of prisoners on hunger strike have been trying to make a sit-in in Esenyurt, Istanbul, to support the resistance and call on people to show solidarity with the action.

For 9 days police have been preventing the families from making their sit-in saying it was forbidden. The families insisted on coming to Esenyurt and vowed they will continue to come every day.

Once again armored vehicles surrounded the area where the families were planning to hold their action. People who were protesting the police harassment was also stopped and their identities checked.

Hazal Taş, mother of Ismet Taş, who is on hunger strike in Tekirdağ No 2 F-Type Prison, said: “What do you want us to do? Sit and watch while our children die on hunger strike?”

Families, supported by the HDP, confirmed they will continue their action today, Friday.
