Families of hunger strikers in Batman harassed by police

The police prevented the human chain promoted by the families of prisoners on hunger strikers.

Reacting to this situation, HDP Başaran said: “Neither the four walls of a cell nor this wall will prevent us prevent us from raising our voices.”

The familes and relatives of the prisoners who are on hunger strike demanding the end of isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan wanted to make "human chain" in Batman to draw attention to the hunger strike resistance.

The action to be carried out on Gülistan Caddesi was not allowed as the governor banned it. HDP provincial executives and Batman deputy Ayse Acar Başaran supported the action, and when the talks they held with the security teams gave no results made a statement in front of the HDP Provincial Building.

Başaran said that they had demanded the implementation of the law and the Constitution and added: “We stand by this right and legitimate demand. By isolating us in this way, you cannot silence our voices. Neither the four walls of a cell nor this wall will prevent us prevent us from raising our voices. We will continue to be in the streets”.
