FEDA denounces Turkish attacks on Rojava, calls for struggle for peace against war

The Democratic Alevi Federation condemned the attacks of the Turkish state, saying that: “An attack on Rojava is an attack on all of us.”

In a written statement on Thursday, the Democratic Alevi Federation (FEDA) said: “The Turkish state continues its arbitrary and unlawful attacks against all segments of society after the elections. Apart from a series of attacks against the Alevis, the Turkish state remains insistent on continuing its unprincipled and dirty war against the Kurdish people.”

The statement continued: “Despite the PKK's cessation of actions during the election process, the Turkish state attacked the Medya Defence Zones and escalated its attacks on Rojava in an attempt at a new invasion after repeated assassinations against civilian politicians in South Kurdistan.

The fascist regime, which sought to crush the will of the Kurdish people through numerous attacks and assassinations during the election period, has killed Qamishlo Canton Co-Chair Yusra Derwêş, her deputy Leyman Şiwê and the driver of their car, Firat Tûma, in a drone attack on June 19. The fascist regime escalates its attacks against the Rojava revolution almost every day, targeting the leaders of the people and revolution through assassinations to break the will of the people.

This dirty and immoral war waged by the Turkish state against the Kurdish people is not just a war against the Kurds. It is a war waged against all peoples and faith groups living in Kurdistan, Turkey and the Middle East.

If the Alevis cannot practice their faith freely today, it is because of the Turkish state's hawkish, denialist and genocidal policies. If democracy and human rights are undermined in Kurdistan and Turkey, it is because of the monist state's insistence on war.

For this very reason, we, the Alevis, regard the war waged by the Turkish state against the Kurdish people as a war against us and strongly condemn it.

The attacks on Rojava are attacks against the Kurdish people, the Alevis and all humanity. We invite everyone to unite around rights, justice and a free life against this unjust, arbitrary and immoral war.

We call on all segments of society and those who are ignored and oppressed to carry out a strong struggle for peace against this dirty war.”
