FEDA: Status of Shengal should be recognized

The Democratic Alevi Federation recalled the Firman [decree of genocide] against Yazidis in 2014 and said, “International status is essential for Shengal.”

The Democratic Alevi Federation released a statement regarding the ISIS genocide against Yazidis on 3 August 2014.

The statement said, “On 3 August 2014, ISIS barbarians attacked the Yazidi people, brutally slaughtered thousands of people including children, women, youth and elderly, and forced tens of thousands of Yazidis to immigrate from their sacred lands. The ISIS gangs sold 5 thousand women and young girls to traders in slave markets established in Iraqi and Syrian regions under the control of the ISIS. They bombarded and demolished holy places and worship houses of the Yazidis.”

‘International status is essential’

“If all humanity acted in accordance with Yazidi and Alevi beliefs which treat all living things in the nature same and equal, peace would reign the earth instead of war,” said the statement and continued:

“Even if the Dutch and Belgian parliaments’ recognition of Yazidi genocide has been an important progression, today it is essential for Shengal to gain an international status. In the event that the UN recognize both the Yazidi genocide and status of Shengal, the oppressed Yazidi people will get the chance to live their belief, religion and culture freely.

To prevent new genocides, we invited all humanity to a united and common struggle.”
