Ferinaz protests in Serdest and Sine

People took to the streets in the cities of Serdest and Sine in East Kurdistan yesterday following the lessening of the repression of the regime forces in those cities.

People took to the streets in the cities of Serdest and Sine in East Kurdistan yesterday following the lessening of the repression of the regime forces in those cities. The protestors, who were mainly women, gathered in the evening hours in the central streets of the cities to call the murderers and the regime to account for their crime.

Carrying banners condemning the Iranian regime, the protestors shouted the name of Ferinaz when they reached the squares in the centre of the cities. In Serdest, protestors frequently shouted the slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom”, while street clashes broke out between the protestors and the police following the intervention of the security forces. It has been reported that two persons were detained in the protests, but no confirmation has yet been obtained.

The protests in Sine had been planned to take place on Friday after the weekly religious ceremony in the mosques, but was postponed as security forces, police and soldiers were deployed in the city. Thousands of people yesterday in the main streets of the city in protest at the Iranian regime, chanting the slogans: "We are all Ferinaz" and "Mahabad is not alone", and the security forces attacked the protestors. It has been reported that there are many detentions; however it has been impossible to ascertain the exact numbers.
