Fifteen organisations take a common stance against the Turkish attacks against South Kurdistan

Fifteen Kurdish and Turkish organizations declared the military operation in South Kurdistan a “genocidal attack” and called for a joint opposition to the invasion.

Fifteen Kurdish and Turkish organizations have called the Turkish military operation in South Kurdistan a “genocidal attack” and called for a joint opposition against the invasion.

The declaration on the common stance of the various organizations was made on Monday in the city of Cologne. Since April 23, the Turkish army has been trying to put under its control the guerrilla areas of Zap, Avashin and Metîna. The guerrilla successfully resisted and held various offensives against the invasion attempts.

The joint event behind Cologne Central Station was attended by the Kurdish European umbrella organization KCDK-E, the South Kurdish party Gorran, the East Kurdish parties Komala and PJAK, the associations AvEG-KON, ATIK, the party Hizbî Şûî Kurdistanî, the Communist Party of Kurdistan, the West Kurdish PYD, the culture association TEV-ÇAND, the HDP, the association of relatives of the fallen and disappeared KOMAW, the Kurdish umbrella association KON-MED and the Islamic umbrella association Civaka Îslamiya Kurdistan, as well as the Yazidi umbrella association Civaka Êzidîyên Kurdistan.

Plan of action

Yüksel Koç, KCDK-E co-chair, announced, a number of actions and initiatives  planned in Europe against the invasion of South Kurdistan:
May 12: Mass demonstration in Strasbourg and the start of the four-week sit-in action in front of the Council of Europe. In this context, meetings will be held with representatives of the Council of Europe and other European institutions. The Kurdish religious institutions will also submit reports to churches.
At the end of May an internationalist demonstration against NATO's support for the Turkish state will take place in Brussels.
Every Thursday ther protests in front of US consulates against the US decision to renew a bounty against three leading cadres of the Kurdish freedom movement, Cemil Bayık, Murat Karayılan and Duran Kalkan.
Platforms against the invasion of South Kurdistan are being set up in many cities in Europe and information work is being carried out.
The signature campaign for the freedom of the Kurdish representative Abdullah Öcalan continues.
