The big Newroz celebration will be held in Yenikapı on 20 March. Today the first fire was lit with the slogan "Let's resist and let's be freed with the fire of Newroz".

The Newroz fire was lit in Güvercintepe, in Başakşehir, accompanied by the mothers wearing white headscarves. The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) district executives, as well as hundreds of local residents, attended the celebration. The neighbourhood resounded with the slogans "Biji Newroz", "Biji Serok Apo" and "Biji berxwedana Kobane", and activists saluted the prisoners who are on the 108th day of hunger strike demanding the end of isolation.

Activists danced around the Newroz and invited everyone to Yenikapı on 20 March.
