Five Kurds arrested in Paris

Five people have been taken into custody today as a result of house raids targeting Kurds in the French capital, Paris. The crisis between two countries over the so called genocide bill has not touched the declaration of “complete solidarity” when Kurds come into question.

The house raids in Essonne and Val-de-Marne areas were reportedly carried out within the scope of anti-terror prosecutor Thierry Fragnoli’s investigation within the framework of “financing of terrorism”. The names of two detainees were reported as Yavuz Aras and Ýnal Çelik.

While the house raids have been France state’s first operation against Kurds in 2012, Paris Criminal Court on 4 January raided a Turkish coffeehouse and arrested five Kurdish young people who were sentenced to five months suspended imprisonment.
