Five months in prison for promoting education in mother tongue

Trade unionists and activists sentenced to 5 months in prison for carrying out activities in Izmir demanding education in the mother tongue.

In 2015, the Education Workers Union (Eğitim-Sen) Izmir branch and Alevi association demonstrated in favour of education in mother tongue. Police attacked the action and detained 90 people.  

The verdict in the trial of the 90 trade unionists and activists was issued at the 15th hearing of the case at Izmir 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance.The court sentenced 90 people to 5 months in prison.
