Five papers banned for 120 days in past year

Human Right Association (IHD) Istanbul Branch released a report about five newspapers banned for 120 days in a year. The report was an answer to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan who said that in the past eight years no paper has seen publication suspended.

According to the IHD Istanbul Branch’s report on violation of rights, thirteen video-sharing-site were banned and a magazine was seized as a result of the Public Prosecutor’s order.

Torture and harassment continued in 2010 as part of violations of human rights, said report.

According to the report Kurdish community and Alawites are the people whose rights were mostly violated while 413 prisoners died during their serving time in Turkey.
