Yesterday in Rize, the heavy rainfalls which intensified at midday caused losses of lives. In consequence of the rainfalls, many landslips emerged. After the flood caused by heavy rainfalls, the officials reached the dead bodies of unaccounted 5 people. Search efforts continue unabated for 2 people in Muradiye town and 1 person in Tepebaşı village of Güneysu district, who have been announced unaccounted since earlier in the night.

In Rize, 220 kilograms of rainfall per square meter in 7 hours was recorded yesterday; streams overflew, the roads were closed to transportation and landslides emerged.

Threat continues

The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that the downpours and thundery showers in Eastern Black-Sea region are expected to intensify on central and eastern regions of Trabzon and Rize (100-200 kilogram per square meter).

Also, 2 fresh tea factories belonging to Directorate General of Tea Enterprises (ÇAYKUR) suffered damage in consequence of the flood and landslide.
