Abdurrahman Ýrez, former Mayor of Derecik (Rubarok), a town in the Þemdinli District of Hakkari was taken into custody on Thursday in the Yüksekova District of the city.

Giving no reason as to the arrest, the police took him to the Yüksekova Police Department for initial interrogation.
