France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said they are “looking into an international judiciary mechanism” for the trial of foreign ISIS members held by the SDF.
Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian spoke to the newspaper Le Parisien and said, “We are looking into the possibility to form a special legal mechanism.”
According to the Foreign Minister, this mechanism could take inspiration from former large scale international mechanisms set up for Kosovo or the African continent.
The French minister rejected the parallels with the Nuremberg tribunal set up for the trials of Nazis after 1945 and said, “That would be a historically extremely heavy of a reference.”
