'Freedom for Öcalan' banner in the skies of Stockholm

Hundreds of people from Kurdistan joined a march in Stockholm to demand freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, while a banner reading 'Freedom for Öcalan' in English was flown by a plane over the city.

Kurds and their friends gathered for a rally at the Hemlegarden Park in Sweden's capital Stockholm yesterday afternoon and unfurled banners with the inscription "Freedom for Öcalan, Peace in Kurdistan", huge PKK flags and images of Öcalan. The protesters marched from there to the Odenplane Square.

During the march a banner reading "Freedom for Öcalan, NCDK", that was attached to a plane, was towed over the Stockholm city about two hours long.

A rally was also held at the Odenplane Square and speeches were held on behalf of the Democratic Kurdish Society Centre (NCDK) and the Rojava Committees. The speakers pointed outthe attacks of the AKP government on Northern (Bakur) and Western (Rojava) Kurdistan and demanded Öcalan's immediate release.

The rally ended with slogans demanding freedom for the Kurdish leader who is held in aggravated isolation in the İmralı Island Prison of the Turkish state.
