'Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan' march kicks off in Düsseldorf

A two-day march was launched in Düsseldorf, Germany, demanding freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Kurds living in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia state started a 2-day march to mark the 22nd anniversary of the international conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan which led to his abduction from Kenya to Turkey on 15 February 1999.

The march started with a press release in front of the State Parliament. FED-MED Co-chair Engin Sever pointed out that the 22-year struggle has voided the conspiracy.

Stating that this year's march is a part of the "The Time Has Come" campaign demanding the freedom of the Kurdish People's Leader, Sever said that the women and youth of the Kurdish people will raise their struggle with all their might for the campaign to succeed.

Members of Democratic Community Centers, YJK-E component women's councils, youth movements TEKO-JIN and TCŞ members are attending the march.

The march, which will continue on Friday with new participants, will end at 14:00 in front of the DGB Haus.
