Week 360 in the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg

Week 360 for the Freedom for  Abdullah Öcalan in front of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.

Launched in front of the European Council on 25 June 2012 and carried out uninterruptedly to today, the  Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has been taken over this week by a new group of Kurdish activists coming from the German city of Oldenburg.

Deniz Aydın, Hacı Temo and Selahattin Ege took over from the previous group on Sunday.

A statement issued by the activists of the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil underlined that the visit granted to lawyers on 2 May (8 years since the last one) to Imrali has been a success of the hunger strike resistance.

Activists said that a life without Öcalan could not be accepted and expressed the belief that isolation against Öcalan would be defeated. The statement commended the hunger strike resistance launched precisely to demand the end of isolation.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil is held seven days a week from morning to evening every day for the past seven years. Activists inform passers by about the hunger strike resistance, Kurdish people’s leader Öcalan and the Vigil itself.
