Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg in its 250th week

On Sunday, a new group of people took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil held in front of the Council of Europe (CoE) in Strasbourg, France for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Ejder Kahraman, Metin Dağdelen, İsmail Gümüş, Hebun Amed and Cemil Gabar are members of the group that took over the vigil from Êzîdî Women's Umbrella Organization (SMJE) members of the past week.
"WE STAND TOGETHER WITH OUR LEADER"
Ejder Kahraman spoke on behalf of the group and emphasized their 'commitment to their Leader and cause'.
Kahraman said: “Our enemies should know that we stand together with our Leader” and emphasized that the group's dedication to the freedom struggle would continue till the end. Kahraman also highlighted the group's demands for Öcalan and the Kurdish people in his statement.
Group members participating in the vigil will stand in the area in front of the CoE until next Sunday and they are distributing pamphlets in French, German and English to the people passing by the scene to provide information about the conditions of the Kurdish leader.
MORE THAN A THOUSAND PEOPLE JOINED THE VIGIL IN 250 WEEKS
The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil began on June 25, 2012, and more than a thousand people have taken part in the vigil that is carried by a different group every week.
In addition to Kurds, allies of Kurdish people, artists, journalists, representatives of Kurdish institutions in Europe, and faith group officials have participated in the vigil to demand freedom for the Kurdish people's leader who is held in aggravated isolation.
