French Peace Movement supports Leyla Güven

Support for DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Güven is growing.

The French Peace Movement has issued a written statement to support HDP Hakkari deputy Leyla Güven.

The Peace Movement recalled in its statement the thousands of political prisoners and Kurdish activists who have joined the hunger strike launched by Leyla Güven to demand an end to the isolation regime imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader, Abdullah Ocalan.

The statement also expressed its concern over the threats issued by the Turkish state to occupy Northern Syria and recalled that “the sixth anniversary of the Paris killings is approaching and it is important to add to the current actions also an event to remember the martyrs.”

On 9 January 2013, in Paris, PKK founding member Sakine Cansiz and Kurdish women and political activists Fidan Dogan and Leyla Saylemez were murdered.

“We must end the impunity of the Turkish state,” said the statement, adding its support for the demands of the hunger strikers.

The statement also demanded an end to any new military operations planned for Rojava.
