My son was tortured to death, says father of guerrilla

Faruk Aydýn, father of Hanefi Aydýn (Berxwedan Malazgirt) claimed that his son died as a result of torture, not as a result of a clash.

Hanefi Aydýn was one of the 10 Kurdish guerrillas who lost their life between 13 and 14 May in Uludere and was buried yesterday. His funeral was attended by 20 thousand people who flocked to the village of Hasretpýnar (Tendürek) in the province of Malazgirt/Mus.

While visits continue to the tent of condolence which was put up for HPG member Hanefi Aydýn (Berxwedan Malazgirt), his father Faruk Aydýn asserted that his son had been tortured to death after being captured and said he was wounded when captured.

Aydýn said: “There was a bullet mark on my son's leg. I could see it clearly when his body was delivered to us. He also had marks on different parts of his body; on the head and nose in particular. My son was tortured to death; he didn’t die in a clash. We will appeal to court for necessary procedures when the condolence visits end. He is a martyr of all Kurdistan, not only mine. My condolences to the Kurdish people and Kurdistan.”
