Funeral for YPG fighter Erik Scurfield in Nottingham

Kurds and their friends in Britain have started to gather at St Paul's with St Stephen's Church in Nottingham to bid farewell to YPG fighter Kemal, Konstandinos Erik Scurfield.

Konstandinos Scurfield died in battle against ISIS gangs in Til Hemis on March 2nd 2015 and is thought to have become the first British People's Protection Units (YPG) fighter to lose his life in Rojava-Western Kurdistan (Northern Syria). His body arrived back in the UK on March 20.

A special memorial service with his body in attendance is being held before the main funeral at 12 noon.

PYD (Democratic Union Party) leader Salih Muslim is also attending the funeral for the foreign fighters of the YPG.
