Three vehicles belonging to the country's leading iron and steel giant, ThyssenKrupp, were set on fire last Friday in Berlin. As a result of the simultaneous actions in different parts of Berlin, vehicles were destroyed.
German radical leftist groups, who made a statement on the left independent website indymedia.org, claimed responsibility for the action. In the statement, the groups said that ThyssenKrupp produces military equipment for the Turkish army used during the invasion attacks which began on 9 October 2019 against North East Syria and for this it was targeted.
Stating that they fully support the Rojava resistance, the left groups added: "We wanted to show that the Autonomous Administration in Rojava is not alone."
The groups also drew attention to the cooperation of ThyssenKrupp with the Turkish state and said: "Our aim is to end the cooperation with the Turkish state with such actions".
After the action, ThyssenKrupp canceled the Board of Directors meeting scheduled in Bochum. Making a statement after the actions, company's chair Martina Merz said the company was concerned.
