Abdullah Öcalan's ideas of a grassroots, gender-free and ecological society are regarded as the cornerstone of the Rojava Revolution. At an event in Giessen, his posters were banned.
A solidarity event for Rojava took place in the German city of Giessen. Hundreds of people took part in the cultural event organized by the Kurdish Community Center of Giessen in the Hessenhalle.
The event began with a minute of silence for the victims of the liberation struggle and a greeting by the organizers. In the music program the Chilean group Contraviento was the first to take to the stage. In addition to their own songs, the group also drew attention to the globally adapted performance "Der Vergewaltiger bist du" ("The rapist is you"), which was performed for the first time in November in Las Tesis in Santiago de Chile on the occasion of the international day for the elimination of violence against women. Then Hozan Dîndar, Koma Delal Amed, Koma Dimlî Amed, Koma Hezex, Elî Gawan, Hozan Zekî and a folklore group performed.
Fear of Öcalan's philosophy
Yüksel Koç, co-chair of the Kurdish umbrella organization KCDK-E, addressed the total isolation of the Kurdish People’s Leader and PKK founder Abdullah Öcalan: "We must fight against this. The Turkish occupying state is afraid of Öcalan's philosophy. This philosophy means great hope not only for the Middle East, but for the whole world. Turkey is attacking Rojava and committing massacres to destroy this hope and the Kurdish achievements."
The fear of Abdullah Öcalan's philosophy is apparently also felt by the German police. Before the event began, police officers came into the hall and declared the posters of the Kurdish mastermind to be forbidden.
