Gezi operations in four cities, fifteen detained
At least fifteen people have been taken into custody as a result of Gezi operations police have carried out in four cities early Friday morning.
16 addresses in İzmir, Bursa, Balıkesir and Manisa were raided in the operation which allegedly targeted the political organizations DHKP-C, TKİP, MLKP, MKP, TKEP-L.
Another İzmir-centered mass operation against Gezi protestors had ended up with the detention of 42 people last Friday. 37 among them were remanded in custody.
Thousands of people have been taken into custody since the beginning of Gezi protests which began in Istanbul's main Taksim Square and soon spread across the country as tens of thousands took to the streets in all cities to protest against the ruling AKP government's increasing repression of the people and its restrictive policies.
Five people were killed, some ten thousand were injured and 12 people lost their sight as a result of the brutal police violence protestors were subject to during the countrywide demos.
