Gezi protestor dies in Eskişehir

Nineteen years old Ali İsmail Korkmaz, student at Anadolu University, died on Wednesday at Osmangazi University Hospital where he has been receiving treatment since 2 June.

Korkmaz had a brain hemorrhage after he was assaulted by unidentified persons while escaping from the tear gas attack of police. The protest in Eskişehir in solidarity with Gezi Park resistance was joined by thousands of people who marched to the AKP building in the city to protest the police violence against Gezi protestors in Istanbul.

With the death of Korkmaz, the number of Gezi protestors killed by police has risen to four, with three others being Abdullah Cömert (22, Antakya), Ethem Sarısülük (26, Ankara), Mehmet Ayvalıtaş (20, Istanbul).

İrfan Tuna (47) who was working on the night shift at a private teaching institution in Ankara's central Kızılay Square died of heart attack on 5 June after he was subjected to intense tear gas police used in the Square during the week.

Police commissioner Mustafa Sarı died on 5 June after he fell down a subway bridge, five meters in height, while chasing protestors in Adana.
