Goran movement moved motion against government

While demonstrations for more democracy continue in Sulaimaniya and Halabja, Goran Movement tabled a motion of censure to Kurdistan Regional Parliament for the fall of government.

Goran Movement Group President Kadro Mohammad presented a report to parliament in the parliamentary session held in the shadow of the demonstrations in Soran region. The report drew attention to the ongoing events in Sulaimaniya since 17th February and criticized the harsh attitude against demonstrators.

As well as the report, Goran Movement tabled a motion of censure to Kurdistan Regional Parliament for the fall of government under the premiership of Berhem Salih.  The motion claimed that the government lost legitimacy, emphasizing the government ruled by Salih can no more govern the country.

During the session Islamic Unity Party floor leader Ömer Abdülaziz stated that giving the vote of confidence to the government was an incorrect choice.

In his speech Abdülaziz said the following; ''The government has failed to fulfill his work so far. In addition, the parliament can not do its duty before the government; for instance, we can not even call a minister to the parliament and investigate him. If the provincial elections in the Kurdistan Region are not held as soon as possible, the power problem is not resolved, the people disappeared in Birakujî’s period are not found and the signed oil agreements are not released to the public, then the parliament, by force of its responsibility, is supposed to review the vote of confidence it gave to the government”.
