The Governorate of Istanbul announced that all market activities, which had been closed as part of the measures to counter the coronavirus emergency as they sell non-essential goods, will open again on Monday, 11 May.
The governor's declaration said: “Clothing, toys, ornaments, bags, etc. will be available again as per Monday 11 May according to the new regulation.”
The new regulations were listed as follows.
“* Market / sales places will be organised so to provide a distance of at least 3 meters between each selling place.
* Police will check entrance and exit and won’t allowed in people not wearing masks.
* The police will provide alcohol based disinfectant at the entrance and exit of the market to people.
* Sellers have to use a mask to cover their mouth and nose.
* Fresh vegetables and fruits can be sold unpackaged but without any contact with consumers.
* In case shopkeepers use gloves, it is absolutely necessary to change the gloves before contact with each customer and their products. Whether gloves are not used it is necessary to ensure that the hands are absolutely cleaned with alcohol based disinfectant before contact with each customer and their products.
* Those who do not obey the rules, will be fined.
