Green Left Party continues election campaigns abroad

3 million 416 thousand voters abroad will cast their votes for the 28th Term General Parliamentary elections and the first round of the presidential elections. 227,646 voters abroad will vote for the first time. The Overseas Election Coordination, which consists of more than 50 institutions and supports the Green Left Party's election campaigns in Europe, is continuing to run campaigns without interruption.
GREEN LEFT RUNS CAMPAIGNS IN 52 CONSTITUENCIES ABROAD
There are 52 constituencies in Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan and African countries. As part of the Green Left Party election activities, campaign offices and commissions have been established in many countries and constituencies. As public meetings and visits to houses and shops organized by the election commissions continue at local levels and country-wide, election information brochures are also left in mailboxes of voters. Voters are informed about the upcoming elections at booths opened in all areas on behalf of the Green Left Party.
The institutions that contribute to the Foreign Election Coordination also offer their offices to the Green Left Party to run its campaign. All institutions will help with the transportation of voters to the polls.
4 THOUSAND OBSERVERS WILL MONITOR THE ELECTIONS
400 Green Left Party representatives, who have the right to appeal to consulates and representative offices, have been assigned by the election coordination to provide election safety. Moreover, seminars continue to train thousands of observers who will monitor the voting process at the polls. According to the information provided by the Foreign Election Coordination, more than 3 thousand observers are already trained, while the applications for more continue.
VOTERS WILL BE TAKEN TO THE POLLS
The Foreign Election Coordination will take voters, who will vote for the first time and who have to go to different consulates, to the polls by bus and car. Measures are being taken in 52 constituencies to ensure that voters do not have transportation problems when going to the polls.
EUROPEAN DIGITAL MEDIA TEAM
The Green Left Party, which promotes its social media campaigns for overseas elections, is also using the European Digital media team. A team of 53 people is currently contributing to the social media campaigns of the party.
NORWAY
Voting in Norway will begin on April 29 and end on May 7. Ballot boxes will be set up in the capital, Oslo. In Norway, where there are about 7 thousand voters, the Green Left Party is continuing its campaign in the form of meetings and home and shop visits. The election coordination, which carries out campaigns on behalf of the Green Left Party, has completed the training of observers for election security. There will be officials who have the authority to object on behalf of the Green Left Party and 10 observers will monitor ballot boxes.
Voting will take place in Oslo. Campaign teams of three are formed in areas where voters are densely populated. Teams will bring voters to the ballot boxes. Campaign managers are still working to ensure that voters living in border cities of Sweden reach the polls in Oslo.
SWITZERLAND
Voting in Switzerland will take place between April 29 and May 7. Voters will cast their votes at the ballot boxes to be set up in Zurich, Bern and Geneva. Voting will take place between 09:00 and 21:00. 10 ballot boxes will be set up in Zurich on weekdays and 14 ballot boxes on weekends. In Bern and Geneva, 5 ballot boxes will be set up on weekdays and 10 at the weekends.
The Green Left Party will have 80 observers in Zurich, 45 in Geneva and 30 in Bern for ballot box security. Moreover, there will be officials who have the authority to object on behalf of the Green Left Party during the voting in Switzerland.
The election campaign is being conducted in 13 Democratic Community Centres in Switzerland. 10 public meetings have been organized already by the election coordination to inform voters. Moreover, home and shop visits are being made. 14 vehicles, a bus and a minibus are hired by the election coordination to transport the sick, elderly and needy voters to the polls.
In the 2018 General Elections, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) became the first party in Switzerland by receiving 52 percent of the votes.
SPAIN
Voting in Spain will take place in the cities of Barcelona and Madrid on May 5-6-7. The Green Left Party’s election campaign continues with public meetings, tradesmen visits and training for ballot box security. Vehicles have already been hired to take voters to the ballot boxes.
SWEDEN
In Sweden, the Green Left Party has stepped up its election campaign. An election office was opened in Helsingborg to promote the Green Left Party. While events are being held as part of the campaign, home and tradesmen visits are being made. Election booths are also opened in many parts of Stockholm.
A visit was made to the VENSTER Party by the election coordination. The VENSTER Party announced that it would send three of its deputies to Turkey to observe the elections.
VENSTER Party Chair Nooshi Dadgostar and Deputy and Foreign Relations Officer Hakan Svennling called for support for the Green Left Party in the elections. Representatives of Assyrians living in Sweden also called for support for the Green Left Party.
Voting in Sweden will begin on May 1 and end on May 7. Voting will take place in Stockholm. Since 3 provinces of Sweden are close to Denmark, voters there will vote in Denmark.
FINLAND
In Finland, voting will take place in the capital city, Helsinki.
Voting in Finland will begin on May 1. 2 ballot boxes will be set up on weekdays and 4 on weekends. Voting will take place between 09:00 and 21:00. More than 7 thousand people will cast their votes in the country. The Green Left Party continues its preparations, including the safety of the ballot boxes and the transportation of voters to the ballot boxes.
AUSTRIA
Ballot boxes will be set up in the cities of Vienna, Salzburg and Bregenz, where Turkey’s consulates are located, and in the cities of Linz, Graz and Innsbruck. Voters will be able to vote between April 27 and May 9 in Vienna, Salzburg and Bregenz, and on April 29-30 and May 1 in other cities. So far, observers and persons who have the authority to object on behalf of the party have been selected. Officials have also been selected for the security of the ballot boxes, both in Austria and in the ATO meeting hall in Ankara, where the votes will be counted. Trainings for the observers have been completed.
Furthermore, campaigns are ongoing in cities and regions in Austria, where the turnout was 48 percent in 2018, to increase the participation and the vote rate of the Green Left Party in this election. The representatives of the Labour and Freedom Alliance in Austria and the Kurdish Community Centres are continuing to work to bring voters to the polls. Buses have already been hired to transport the sick, elderly and disadvantaged voters to the polls.
ITALY
The Italian Election Preparatory Committee consisting of 58 people is coordinating the election campaign in Milan and Rome where the votes will be cast. Carrying out a three-stage campaign, the Committee first finished voter registration work, then carried out propaganda and persuasion activities for the Green Left Party. This stage is continuing. Thirdly, preparations are being made for voter transportation and election security.
So far, 16 observers have been identified and 4 individuals have been selected to, if necessary, object to the results at the ballot boxes on behalf of the Green Left Party. 3 buses in Turin and 1 bus in Venice and Grossetto have been hired so that the voters could vote.
In neighbouring cities such as Modena, Bolzano and Novara, voters will go to Rome and Milan between May 3-7.
The committee will focus on voters, especially those who have come to Italy from Turkey for Erasmus, internship, master etc. The Committee vowed that it would increase the vote rate of the party far more than the previous one, which stood at 30 percent.
