Group from Frankfurt takes over Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Vigil

The Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Vigil, carried out by the Kurds and their friends in Europe has been taken over by a group from Frankfurt on its 429th week.

The Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan Vigil is held in front of the European Council in Strasbourg and has entered its 429th week. Ali Kınay, Mehmet Çakmak, Hasan Kısa and Hacı Aleks, from Frankfurt, have taken over the vigil from a group of young people.

In a statement the activists said that the “Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) cannot keep silent in front of what is happening in Imrali. We have been reacting against isolation for 9 years and unfortunately all institutions remain silent.”

Pointing out the injustice, the group members said: “The Kurds want justice exactly like all other people and nations. Our leader has been in prison for 21 years and this is not acceptable.”

The Frankfurt group members also greeted the Long March organized by Kurdish youth in Germany demanding freedom of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and added: "We will never give up the demand for freedom of our leader. Every Kurd should act for this purpose.”
