Guerrilla commander Agit Şevger laid to rest in Bismil

Guerrilla commander Agit Şevger, who fell in May, was buried in Bismil. Şevger was a member of the HPG headquarters in Amed and fell as a martyr during a military operation.

The fallen HPG commander Agit Şevger (Aydın Şimşek) was buried in Bismil on Friday. Şevger was a member of the HPG headquarters in Amed. According to the HPG, he fell on May 18 in the course of an air-supported military operation carried out by the Turkish army in the Lice district.

His remains were released for burial 45 days after his death. Relatives picked up the body from a hospital in Amed. The funeral was to take place in the village of Kopeklî. However, the entire village was besieged by the military police in advance, and the funeral was forbidden. The body was then transferred to the cemetery in Bismil and buried there late at night.

Agît Şevger joined the People's Defense Forces (HPG) in 1998 and fought in Bergen for over twenty years, most of the time in Amed.
