HAMBURG

Kurds and their friends attended rally in Hamburg on Saturday to demand freedom for Abdullah  Öcalan.

A statement was read on behalf of the Rojbin Women's Council at the rally. In the statement read by Leyla Kaya, it was emphasized that the capture of Öcalan was in reality the capture of the will of all Kurdish people and that the struggle would continue until Öcalan is freed.

Robert Jaroway from the German Kurdish Friendship Committee said that Öcalan is the hope of not only the Kurdish people, but also of the oppressed people.

Jaroway condemned the isolation imposed on the Kurdish People’s Leader saying it is a totally illegal practice. 

KNK representative Serhat Çetinkaya read the joint statement signed by over 20 organizations.

One of the demonstrators, Rahşan Gün, said that she did not want anybody to die as a mother, and added that she had come to the rally to condemn isolation.

Another activist, Ahmed Güneş, saying that the isolation imposed on Öcalan had no equal in the world.

An activist named Mithat Kaya said that he will continue to struggle for Öcalan to whom he will be loyal until the end.

Firat Dogan reminded how 20 years ago Öcalan arrived in Rome and he himself went there for a week to protest together with thousands of Kurds. 

TURIN

An action to protest against the isolation of the Kurdish People’s Leader was held in the Italian cities of Turin and Pinerolo. 

Kurds and their friends joined the action in Piazza Castello. Author Davide Grasso participated in the demonstration and in his speech condemned Öcalan'a isolation. Expressing concern over the situation in Öcalan, Grasso said that no one should stay silent.

A similar action took place in Pinerolo, which gave Öcalan the honorary citizenship.

TOULOUSE

The city of Toulouse in southern France also organised a demonstration to protest against the isolation imposed on Öcalan and condemn the 9 October international conspiracy. 

At the rally speeches were made underlining that the isolation is unacceptable. 

The action was supported by the anti-capitalist party NPA, the Solidaire 31 union and the Communist Marxist Leninist Workers' Way organization.
