Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Amed Provincial Organization held a press conference in Yenişehir on the latest developments in the province. 

HDP Amed provincial co-chairs Zeyyat Ceylan and Hülya Alökmen Uyanık attended the press conference together with party's executives.

Speaking at the conference, Ceylan paid tribute to the victims of the avalanche disaster in Van, the earthquake in Elazig and the plane crash in Istanbul, and said: "It is not the earthquake that kills people, inconsiderateness does. Like the earthquake, the avalanche in Van and plane crash in Istanbul are caused by bad management."

Stating that the attacks against Kurds have not stopped since the day the AKP came to power, Ceylan added that the current government is only promoting chaos. 

Referring to the political pressures against the HDP, Ceylan condemned the appointment of trustees to the HDP-run municipalities and said: "Trustees are aimed at destroying Kurds. They are trying to rule the society by military methods. They try to maintain their power like this. HDP will criticize the principles of denial and destruction used against peace and democracy."

The HDP has concluded the provincial and district congresses and will hold its general congress on 23 February. "Even if they arrest thousands of people, - Ceylan said - we will insist in the politics of peace, freedom and democracy. HDP is the hope of peace, the hope of brotherhood and the solution of the Kurdish problem." 

Reminding the situation of journalists who are constantly under pressure and put in prisons, Ceylan said: "The society cannot be free unless pens are free."

HDP Provincial co-chair Hülya Alökmen Uyanık said: "If we look at Diyarbakır, it is not possible to talk about local government. The demands of the people are not reflected in the administration. The whole city is under pressure."

Call to attend the hearing of co-mayor Adnan Selçuk Mızraklı

Uyanık called on everyone to attend the hearing of the trial against Amed Metropolitan Municipality (DBB) co-mayor Adnan Selçuk Mızraklı to be held on 10 February.
