The HDP Central Office has issued a statement regarding the bomb attacks on the party’s offices in Adana and Mersin, saying: “Attacks will not intimidate us.”

The statement said that political responsibility for the attacks lay with President Erdoğan, the Prime Minister and other members of the AKP government. The statement bore the heading: "You cannot intimidate us with attacks”, adding:

"As the 7 June elections approach, attacks on our party are increasing. There have now been 60 attacks in total, on our party’s central office, branch offices, party vehicles, our members and supporters. This morning’s attacks on our party’s Adana and Mersin provincial offices demonstrate the level these attacks have reached. 6 party workers were injured in the attack in Adana.”

The statement noted that shadowy forces were being used as part of attempts to prevent the development of the party and hinder its election campaign, and that political responsibility for the attacks lay with President Erdoğan, the PM and other members of the AKP government. “The mentality that insults and targets our Co-presidents and candidates has resulted in these latest attacks in Adana and Mersin,” the statement continued.

The HDP statement concluded by emphasising that no one would be able to prevent the party continuing to gain support all over Turkey with its calls for a ‘New Life’. It condemned the attacks on the party’s Adana and Mersin offices and demanded that those responsible be found immediately.
