HDP campaigning in Europe

Vote for Turkey's residents in Europe begins on 7 June.

The campaign for the election in Turkey and North Kurdistan is being carried in Europe as well, as votes abroad will play an important role in the 24 June elections.

Voting operations in Europe are scheduled from 7 to 19 June.

In the cities of Delémont, Lenzburg and Basel in Switzerland, public meetings were held as part of the HDP election campaign.

The meeting in Delémont saw the participation of Fatma Şık Barut, the co-chair of Sur municipality.

Mehmet Göksungur, speaking on behalf of the Canton Jura Mesopotamian Cultural Center, said that the HDP had the same mission as its predecessors: being a peoples’ party.

Fatma Şık Barut, who spoke after Göksungur, talked about the massacres and devastations carried out by the Turkish state, in Sur like in other cities. A historical site, 7 thousand years old where many civilizations lived had been destroyed by the AKP government.

At the meeting a message sent by Presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş from prison was read.

Lenzburg

In Lenzburg, a public meeting with the participation of HDK (Peoples’ Democratic Congress) European co-spokesperson, Demir Çelik called on people to vote for HDP and Demirtaş in Switzerland.

Basel

A public meeting was held in Basel with the participation of the representatives of the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) and co-chairs of the Kurdish Community Center.

It was underlined how the AKP-MHP fascism is trying to make it difficult for the HDP by moving the polls to remote regions in 19 provinces of Kurdistan.

Toulouse

HDP election work continues in Toulouse, France. House canvassing was carried out led by the Democratic Kurdish Community Center (DTKM).

Avignon

A meeting was held in the Alevi Association with the participation of HDP Siirt deputy Besime Konca in Avignon, France.

Konca said that “the HDP has demolished all the paradigms of the state at the previous elections. We have done this together and there is a hope for democracy and freedom”.

Konca noted that “the AKP is using every devise to steal the votes of the people for the HDP” and added that “Alevis in Europe should vote for their future by voting for the HDP and for Selahattin Demirtaş".

Montpellier

In Montpellier, a public meeting was held with the participation of HDP deputy Besime Konca who reminded that the vote on 24 June is “a choice between democracy and dictatorship”.

Braunschweig

The HDK-A (Peoples’ Democratic Congress-Europe)Braunschweig Council, in the German city of Braunschweig, held a meeting about the elections.

Koblenz

A public meeting was held in Koblenz, Germany at Koblenz Alevi Cultural Center.

Speaking at the meeting, HDP party council member Osman Ergin stressed the importance of overcoming the threshold.

Ludwigsburg

Composed by approximately 44 percent of immigrants and refugees is the German city of Ludwigsburg.

Here Kurds are working to get support for the HDP and Presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtas at the 24 June elections.

As part of the election campaign, a panel was organized with the participation of DİDİF board member Hüseyin Avgan, FEDA spokesperson Pir Huseyin Bildik, FCK Baden-Württemberg spokesperson Filiz Çakalı and Ludwigsburg DKTM co-chair Lokman Hezil.

Celle

A meeting was held at the Democratic Kurdish Cultural Center (DKTM) in Celle, Germany.

Hasip Kaplan, Ali Atalan and Tahir Köçer made speeches at a public meeting attended by about 400 people.

NAV-DEM co-chair Tahir Köçer underlined the importance of this election which is an opportunity for Kurds.

Hasip Kaplan said: “This election is very important in terms of the historical results it will deliver”.
