A delegation from the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) chaired by co-president Selahattin Demirtaş continues their official talks abroad.
The HDP delegation comprised of HDP co-president Selahatin Demirtaş, deputies Leyla Birlik and Hişyar Özsoy and European representative Eyüp Doru has been having talks with European officials in Brussels since the beginning of this week.
The delegation is expected to have separate meetings in Strasbourg today with the Secretary General of the Council of EuropeThorbjørn Jagland, and Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks.
The talks will also be attended by HDP's European Parliament representative Faik Yağızay.
During the meetings, the HDP delegation will invite the Council of Europe officials to develop an attitude against the Turkish state's genocidal attacks in North Kurdistan, and call upon the Council of Europe to reclaim its main principles in the face of Turkish state's acts that constitute a “collective punishment”, “war crime” and “crime against humanity” in line with the definitions made by the UN, international organisations and NGOs worldwide.
The talks are also expected to witness a discussion of the aggravated isolation of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, the “coup of immunity” targeting the HDP, restrictions imposed by the AKP ruling against freedoms, 'security laws' and amendments protecting the perpetrators of war crimes in North Kurdistan and across the country.
The HDP delegation is also expected to bring forward the results of Ankara's policy to smother Rojava, anti-ISIS fight, flow of refugees from Syria and Iraq and the results the European Union is facing today in this regard.
