HDP election offices attacked in İzmir and Mersin

HDP members and offices are subjected to increasing attacks in Turkey before the parliamentary and presidential elections on June 24.

Election offices of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) have been attacked in İzmir and Mersin provinces in western and southern Turkey.

İZMİR

In the mainly Kurdish neighborhood of Gediz in İzmir’s Buca district, a group of fascists attacked the HDP election office after it was shut down by the party members last night. The assailants broke the windows of the office and tore down HDP banners.

HDP members in the district stated that attacks on their party are increasing as elections near, stressing that these attacks will intimidate neither the party members nor voters.

Yesterday, the party members were threatened by a 6-person group showing the fascist wolf salute and Rabia sign.

MERSİN

In the southern province of Mersin, HDP election office in Yenişehir district was targeted by fascists who wrote racist slogans and drew fascist signs on the windows of the office and on the images of HDP presidential candidate Selahattin Demirtaş.
