The HDP party headquarters in Ankara was attacked by unknown persons on Friday night. As images from a surveillance camera show, three men threw stones at the facade of the building shortly after midnight, destroying several panes of glass. The police officers assigned to protect the property did nothing, and the perpetrators were able to flee unmolested. No arrests have been made so far.
It is no coincidence that the attack on the party headquarters took place in parallel with the mafia war within the Turkish state, despite the lockdown and Eid, said a statement by the HDP released today. As responsible for the attack on the building of Turkey's third-largest party, the HDP sees the Turkish government and its political environment, which "feed on chaos and turmoil" and "pillory the party at every opportunity."
HDP stated that the attack is a "diversionary tactic" orchestrated by Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, whose "links to the mafia and dark machinations" are currently being exposed - meaning the video messages of the Turkish ultra-nationalist and mafia boss Sedat Peker about criminal entanglements of the state. Soylu wants to make the HDP a target in order to turn attention away from itself, according to the HDP.
