People's Democratic Party (HDP) in Kars, Ağrı and Patnos protested the dismissal and arrest of HDP co-mayors.
Kars
HDP Kars Provincial Organization condemned the appointment of trustees to HDP-run municipalities with a press statement in front of the party building.
Cengiz Anli, the HDP Provincial co-chair, said that the elected mayors were serving the people and for this they were put in prison. He added that the appointment of trustees as no legal basis.
Anli pointed out that the AKP government affected the legitimacy of the electoral system with the trustees.
Ağrı
HDP Ağrı Provincial Organization also organised a press statement at the party building. HDP Provincial Director Hakan Mağlay said that the trustees policy aimed at breaking the will of the Kurdish people and added: "We recommend to look at the history of the Palace that thinks that it will intimidate the Kurdish people. The Kurdish people, who did not submit to the 12 September 1980 militart coup, will bury this one-man power as it has done in the 24 June and 31 March elections."
Patnos
In Patnos, the HDP District Organization made a press statement at the district building with the participation of Patnos Municipality co-mayors Emrah Kılıç and Müşerref Geçer. HDP District executive Eşref Pehlivan said the trustee regime is based on corruption and harassment.
