HDP members attacked in Istanbul and Bursa

More attacks reported by fascists against the HDP in Istanbul and Bursa provinces of Turkey.

After the recent attacks against HDP members running election campaign in Bolu, Antalya, Manisa, Ankara and Istanbul, more attacks have taken place against the election campaign of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in western Turkey a few weeks before the parliamentary and presidential elections on June 24.

ISTANBUL

A person claiming to be village headman stopped the vehicle of HDP members on their way to Hüseyinli village of Istanbul’s Çekmeköy district as part of their election campaign. The man pointed his gun at the HDP members who were then attacked by a group of 15-20 people.

The gendarmes took the man claiming to be village headman, the mob accompanying him and the HDP members to Ömerli gendarmerie station.

BURSA

A fascist group chanting racist slogans attacked the HDP members who opened a stand in Karabey district of Bursa on Tuesday.

While the police only watched the fascist attack, the mob tore down photos of Selahattin Demirtaş and flags and banners of the party.

Tensions remain high at the scene.
