HDP members to be denaturalized

130 people including 2 HDP MPs are about to have their citizenships revoked.

130 people, including Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MPs Faysal Sarıyıldız (Şırnak) and Tuğba Hezer (Van) and former MP Özdal Üçer, have been given 3 months to return to Turkey. If they fail to return to Turkey during this period, their citizenships will be revoked. Fethullah Gülen is also included in the list.

The notice published in the Official Gazzette is as follows:

“It is hereby notified by publication that persons listed below who are under investigation and prosecution by Public Prosecutor’s Offices and/or Courts for crimes cited in Articles 302, 309, 310, 311, 312, 313, 314 and 315 of the Turkish Penal Code No.5237 dated 26/9/2004 and who can not be reached because they are on foreign soil will be made to lose their Turkish citizenship according to the relevant articles of the Law unless they return to Turkey in 3 months from the date of publication in the Official Gazzette for this notice and appeal to the relevant authorities according to the Article 29 Clause 2 of the Turkish Citizenship Act No.5901.”
