HDP’s Dede: Van will be one of the municipalities we reclaim

"We have no doubt that we will get 14 municipalities, including the Van Metropolitan Municipality on 31 March elections.”

HDP Van Provincial co-chair Ümit Dede said that the 31 March elections work is in line with the demands of the friends on hunger strikes.

Speaking to ANF, Dede noted that not the AKP but the State has entered the elections in the Kurdish provinces, and has mobilized all possible tools.

Dede stated that despite all the pressures, the HDP continues to work for the election. “Our election activities are continuing in 13 districts. - said Dede - Our friends come together in all constituencies. We have to struggle with the State itself. Governors and district governors threaten mukhtars and tradesmen. They are forcing people to vote for the AKP-MHP alliance. Despite all these difficulties we can see that people is coming to the HDP rallies.”

“Isolation and resistance are on our agenda”

Dede stressed that the most important issues on the party’s agenda are the hunger strike against isolation and isolation itself. “This growing resistance is extremely important to us. Our election activities are in line with the demands of our friends on hunger strikes.”

Dede stated that it would be very difficult to govern after 31 March if a proper peaceful environment like the one provided by Mr. Abdullah Öcalan during the 2015 negotiations is not provided. “Turkey's democratization, peace and the re-development of negotiating environment is one of our main goals. - said Dede - The opening of Turkey's democracy front has one precondition for its realization and a new hope for peace, and this is the abolition of isolation on Mr. Öcalan. It is in this context that we carry out our work. We have no doubt that we will get 14 municipalities, including the Van Metropolitan Municipality on 31 March elections.”
