HPG guerrilla Hamit Kartal laid to rest

Guerrilla Nûman Amed (Hamit Kartal) was buried in his hometown in Silvan, province of Amed.

The HPG guerrilla fell a martyr together with Eylem Rojen and Dîlan Koçer in an operation carried out by the Turkish army on 15 September on the Beytanê-Alm in the northern Kurdish province of Hakkari.

After a DNA test, the family of Nûman Amed was informed by the public prosecutor on Monday that his body was being released.

The relatives made their way to Hakkari on Monday evening and arrived at the state hospital on Tuesday morning. The body was handed over to them after a seven-hour wait. On the way back to Amed, the car carrying the remains of guerrilla Kartal was stopped dozens of times at police and military checkpoints, and the family members were checked several times.

During the night the family arrived in Reşika. Numerous politicians from the HDP and DBP attended the funeral. After a religious ceremony, the body of Nûman Amed was buried in the village cemetery.

Guerrilla Eylem Rojen (Leyla Acar) was buried in Van on Tuesday. Only six people from the closest family were allowed to attend the funeral.
