Hunger strike against isolation in Stockholm

Kurds have started a hunger strike action against the isolation of Öcalan in Stockholm.

In Swedish capital Stockholm, Kurds launched a hunger strike on April 1st demanding the end of the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The action is also meant to express solidarity with the indefinite hunger strike actions of the 14 activists in Strasbourg and of thousands of prisoners in Turkish jails.

The alternating hunger strike action will be participated by 6 groups.

A statement published by the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Sweden, which has also been sent to the Swedish emdia, provided information about the aggravated isolation regime executed against Öcalan, ans stressed that HDP MP Leyla Güven, who has been fasting since 7 November 2018, and other activists joining the indefinite hunger strike action are in critical conditions.

The statement also called on the Swedish government and the European Union to break their silence and to take action in order for the removal of the isolation.
