The hunger strike by 14 Kurdish activists in Strasbourg has reached day 88.

The 14 activists have joined the hunger strike resistance led by Leyla Güven who began fasting on 7 November 2018 demanding the end of the isolation policy carried out by the AKP-MHP fascist alliance against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The 14 Kurdish activists on hunger strike in Strasbourg are members of the Freedom for Öcalan Initiative and they are determined to continue their action until isolation is lifted.

The hunger strikers were visited on Thursday by over 20 people from the city of Créil, France, including former HDP deputy Nursel Aydoğan and former co-mayor of Cizre municipality Leyla Imret.

Azmi Güven, one of the members of the People's Assembly of Créil, said the hunger strike resistance was like “a volcano eruption.”

Aydoğan: This resistance will open the doors of Imrali

Former HDP deputy Nursel Aydoğan said that the hunger strike is one of the hardest democratic actions to take and stressed that the human will is the clearest of actions. “No weapon - she said - could eliminate human will.”

Aydoğan added: “My belief is that this determination and will open the doors of Imralı; this resistance will surely reach victory. Our duty is to be the voice of the magnificent will of our friends.”

The former HDP MP also stressed the importance of increasing the resistance of the people.

Gülistan Ike, speaking on behalf of the hunger strike activists, shared her belief that the resistance launched by Leyla Güven on 7 November, will result in a great victory on Newroz, Kurdish New Year.

Millions of Kurds, she said, have put their hearts and thoughts in this resistance and this, she added, will surely lead to victory.

Referring to the importance of claiming the resistance, Ike noted that isolation is imposed on all peoples and which is why, she said, it is a direct problem for every individual.

Ike ended her remarks by insisting on Kurds to spread support for the resistance.
