The hunger strike launched by the Shengal Diaspora Assembly with demands that Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan be contacted immediately and Shengal’s status be recognized continues in its 19th day. French police are trying to evacuate the participants from the La Trés-Sainte-Trinité Church where the hunger strike is being held.

European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress (KCDK-E) has also condemned the police attack on hunger strikers and called on Kurds and their friends to flock to the La Trés-Sainte-Trinité Church in solidarity with the participants.
KCDK-E described the efforts of French police and church administrators to evacuate the scene as a political decision.
