The Mardin branch of the Human Rights Association (İHD) has issued a statement condemning assaults on child prisoners in the Mardin E Type prison, calling for an immediate inquiry.

The İHD Mardin branch chair Erdal Kuzu said that violence had been used last week by the authorities in Mardin prison against child political prisoners, adding that some had been injured. He continued: "The children were then put in solitary, after which some of them were transferred to Midyat prison. As the İHD we condemn this violence implemented against children and demand that an immediate investigation be launched into those responsible for this violence."
