Illuminating Raqqa with solar energy

The environment is one the pillars of the Democratic Autonomy.

Raqqa streets are illuminated by lamps working with solar energy.

The lamps were built in the city on 23 February, on the streets of Seyf El Dewle and Vilayet Center.

Engineer Ismail al-Sheb said that they would work for the enlightenment of all main and crowded streets and that lamps working with solar energy would be built in the same way in other areas.

Electricity in the city was previously provided by Tabqa Dam. After the occupation of DAESH mercenaries, who damaged the infrastructures, electricity is now supplied by generators and lighting is provided on the streets with the lamps working with solar energy.

Following the liberation of Raqqa by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters on October 2017, the Raqqa Civil Council has been working tirelessly to revive life in the city.
